Journalism Student's Investigative Article Widely Published

Linh TaJournalism student Linh Ta, a junior from West Des Moines, had an investigative article on problems of GI benefits for Iowa veterans in state universities published in, an independent investigative journalism site operated by the Iowa Center for Public Affairs Journalism.  

Lyle Muller, executive director and editor of IowaWatch, said the story was published in the Cedar Rapids Gazette, Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, Quad-City Times, Iowa City Press-Citizen, Burlington Hawk Eye, and Patch. KCRG and KWWL did television stories based on Ta's report.

Ta is an electronic media and political communication double major, with a minor in journalism.  She is news editor of the Northern Iowan, and in 2012 won the Ruth Culbertson Memorial Award (the "Cubby" Award), established in 1973 to recognize "outstanding Northern Iowan reporters or editors who has demonstrated exceptional service and devotion to the paper" and "promise and potential for becoming a professional journalist."

Linh Ta will be an intern with the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier in the summer of 2013.
