The Digital Media Major prepares you for a variety of careers in the dynamic and converging field of digital media.
With concentrations in digital journalism, digital media leadership, and digital media production, the major is a hub of collaboration, innovation, and creativity.
You will build strong skills in storytelling and media management across multiple platforms such as video, mobile reporting, virtual reality, podcasting, augmented reality, print, radio, television, and social media. A UNI Digital Media degree will equip you with the skills to pursue your dreams.
Our newly enhanced High-Definition Television Studio, features state-of-the-art HD studio cameras, control room, and newsroom and graphics software. We are also equipped with writing labs and video production equipment. Our video editing rooms feature the Adobe Creative Suite and Avid editing systems.
Your academic training will be enhanced with internship opportunities at significant national and global media organizations. Through this, you will acquire important skills, enhance your portfolio, and build your professional networks in the industry.
You are also encouraged to explore co-curricular media activities at KULT Radio (94.5 FM), Cedar River Productions, the Northern Iowan newspaper, and The Valley on ESPN3, a media team covering UNI’s NCAA Division I sports for ESPN3.
Our students and alumni have won numerous awards at national and regional competitions. Alumni return every year as part of the Fast Forward Workshops to provide students and professionals with the latest skills and trends in the media industry.
